Pond Management

Pond Management

This site is a collaborative effort between Penn State Cooperative Extension and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The goal is to provide educational resources on proper management of ponds in the areas of aquatic plants and algae, fisheries, pond structure, and water quality.

Please answer our short, six-question survey about your ponds and your needs to help us make this site better.

New Publication and DVD Available: Management of Aquatic Plants

A twenty-four-page color publication and companion thirty-minute DVD have been created that discuss the benefits of aquatic plants, how to identify them, and various methods of physcal, biological, and chemical control. The publication can be ordered for $4 from your local extension office or directly from the Publications Distribution Centrer at the link below. The video can be viewed as individual three- to six-minute chapters by clicking on the "Online Pond Videos" link below or you can order the entire DVD for $5.
